Welcome to 2014! Â
According to Sunrun.com, we are 110 days from the Vancouver Sun Run. Lots of time to train for Team Trask Family Sun Run! Â I plan on posting weekly what the training workouts are for the 10km walk training program. Â They start out gradually, and over the 110 days the distance will feel more doable and fun instead of daunting. Â Feel free to comment on your training and how the week is going in the comments section.
Here is a preview of the course:
Week 1 workouts:
WORKOUT 1
Warm-up: Walk slow & easy for 10 min.
3 min. brisk walk – 2 min. recovery walk.
2 min. brisk walk – 2 min. recovery walk.
1 min. brisk walk – 2 min. recovery walk.
Do this combination 2 times.
Cool-down: Walk slow & easy for 10 min.
WORKOUT 2
Warm-up: Walk slow & easy for 5 min.
Walk for 20 minutes.
Cool-down: Walk slow & easy for 5 min.
WORKOUT 3
Warm-up: Walk slow & easy for 5 min.
Walk for 25 minutes.
Cool-down: Walk slow & easy for 5 min.
I am really enjoying my walks, it feels great to put one foot in front of the other, and process my day, one step at a time.
I have been enjoying breaking-up my work day, when I can, and getting a little energizing lunch-time walky in, or sometimes I get a post work, evening walky in. It feels awesome!
I am stoked for family sun run/walk time!
