GNS posing with his completed human skeleton puzzle on video chat. Great job!
Grand-nephew (GNS) is officially not scheduled to start school until the Fall, but he has spent a lot of the last year doing some preliminary homeschooling. He does a lot of drawing and printing, and has lots of questions and interests in varied things. I put my hand up to contribute to Science and Math lessons, and we have been doing that once a week by video chat. This takes place right before family yoga, so Sunday evenings have really become ‘connecting with Canadian family‘ night. It has really been a lot of fun!
When asked to pick out something in nature, GNS chose a massive pine bough. What do pine trees need to survive? What needs a pine tree to survive? Turns out dirt, water, sunshine/beavers and beetles, all illustrated here in a ecoweb
What lives in the ground below a dandelion? GNS did some field work and made some discoveries. Here we see below the soil surface: horned beetle, earwig, worms.
GNS has been tracking sunflower sprouts for a few weeks. We check in each week – how has it changed since last week? What will it look like next week?
The skeleton puzzle was popular enough that another one was in order: Introducing the Right Whale!
