Sweden’s Police museum is in Stockholm, but the vehicle warehouse is in Tullinge, a short bike ride form our house. It is only open to the public (for free!) a few days per year, and for the August date we rode our bikes over to check it out. I figured that it would pretty much be a Volvo museum (and I was totally fine with that!), but I was pleasantly surprised at the variety and range in the exhibit, including some EXTREME oldies!
This is a bit of a photo dump without captions – be aware that this one is especially for the car fans. If you are keen to visit the police car museum, you totally can… either on the two days per year it is open to the public or make a special appointment with one of the car fan volunteers to give you a guided tour (my guess is this is worth it, given some of the enthusiastic docent-uncles we saw when we visited.)
This post was a treat. All the old Volvos were amazing. Neat to see a Porsche police car and even a Beetle in police paint. I was amazed to see the piece bike with not only spike tires but with outrigger skis! That is some James Bond stuff for sure! Just like that incredible mobile command in the back of an awesome old van. Cool to see a few new vehicles like the Saab and the Segway!
Quite a treat!
