Tapet

This room was always a bit of an extravagant manifestation of ‘too much house for two people’. It is pretty sparsely furnished, so in the winter it becomes the bike training room. In the summer it has served for ‘kid guests’ with a blow-up mattress. Since we don’t spend a lot of time in it we have not really prioritized making it cozy – that is, until I started spending more time looking at vintage Swedish wallpaper patterns and decided I wanted some. The sloping roof presents a very economical opportunity for an accent wall.

The pattern is called ‘Rabarber’ (rhubarb) and was originally designed as a fabric print in 1969 by Gocken Jobs. In comes in white background and dark background, but I figured the room would benefit from some DRAMA (one can go big and go home). I was very efficient with hanging (far more so than the website wallpaper pattern repeat estimator), so we actually have enough to do the low wall in our bedroom as well (and maybe some drawers on an ugly dresser).
