Warning! This post is extremely self-serving. Usually we just say no to this question, but when we go to Canada there are things that we seek out to bring back. So if you are visiting and you have space in your suitcase, here are the things we usually get for ourselves.
- Nuritional yeast – because the European kind is bitter and gross
- Braggs liquid amino sauce -double bag it!
- Maple syrup -any kind, but my favourite is the ultra dark kind
- Molasses – Nordic sugar comes from beets, not sugar cane, and molassess is not a byproduct. I like the darkest bitterest blackstrap molasses in the tetra pack. I’ve never had this burst, but I ALWAYS double bag it.
- Nuts to you brand tropical nut butter
- Wild rice (Manomin)
- Corn husks for making tamales. I love making/eating tamales, and while the husks were a bit of a specialty item in Canada, they are a once-per-year-near-impossibility in Stockholm.
- Hawkins cheezies – the original and best (according to Graham)
- Que pasa corn chips – its hard to imagine a world where one has enough space for these, but just in case
- Alba brand mango shaving cream
- Jason brand citrus ginger deodorant
- Mauna Loa Macadamia Nuts (from London Drugs) -Graham likes the onion and coffee and plain flavours
- Sodium naproxen – Aleve is the fancy brand but generic is fine!
- Tetley Earl Grey Vanilla and Cassis
- Fly by Jing Chili crisp – I think this is American, but Bridget brought us some and it is so rad!
- Fatso peanut butter plain original – though just now the pantry is full since everyone knows I like it!
Things we can get in Sweden now:
- Nin jiom syrup and lozenges in all favors
- Lee Kum Kee sauces
- Kikoman soy sauce
- MDH spice mixes
Of course, don’t feel you have to get anything at all. But if you feel you must… 😊
