So I spent 10 days in Korea (including the looong flights there and back via Tokyo) for a conference.  I got to travel around a bit and see some sights as you can see from the last few posts, and there lots ore photos coming! It was the first stop in Korea, and the conference itself in Busan was pretty great. The lunch buffet was OUTSTANDING: seriously the best conference lunch I am likely to ever see, with a sashimi bar, make your own stir fry station, and 9 million Korean and Western foods. The first day I ate like 10 mangosteens.

The Science part was also pretty great, with great presenters and interesting projects, and a nice chance to chat with all the researchers I usually only see at these things.

The best part was probably the last day, when at the closing ceremony they announced the winner of the ‘best paper at the conference’ award: me!! I went up and posed with the conference chair Dr. Kang (a quite lengthy photography session in the Korean tradition). There are lots of photographs on the conference website.
